2023 Virtual POWER Act Event

The Pro Bono Work to Empower and Represent (POWER) Act was signed into law in September 2018 to help combat domestic abuse and sexual violence. The POWER Act mandates that each year the Chief Judge of each Judicial District across the country hold at least one event promoting pro bono legal services as a critical way to empower survivors of domestic violence, stalking, and sexual assault, engage citizens, and help lift victims out of the cycle of violence. The bill also requires that every two years an event be held in areas with high numbers of Native Americans and Alaska Natives, with a focus on addressing these issues among Native populations.

In recognition of the important role the Judiciary plays in assisting victims of domestic violence and in compliance with the POWER Act, the District of Vermont is pleased to co-sponsor a virtual POWER Act event which will take place on Friday, September 22, 2023 at Noon (EST).     To register for this event, simply click on the announcement below and provide the requested information.   As the date draws closer, you will be sent a Teams invitation to the email address you provided.  We recommend you sign in approximately 5 minutes before the event to ensure you can complete the connection.
