ANNOUNCEMENT OF POTENTIAL COVID EXPOSURE (Updated 11/20/20)

Monday, November 16, 2020

On November 15, 2020, a member of the courthouse security team tested positive for COVID‐19. This individual was present in the courtroom for a jury selection hearing on the 5th floor of the Burlington courthouse on Monday, November 9, 2020 and had no interaction with jurors. He was masked at all times and was seated more than six feet away from any potential juror. The court has written to all jurors who attended the hearing to advise them of the potential exposure and to recommend that they speak with their primary care physician or the Vermont Department of Health concerning the advisability of a COVID test for themselves. The court has taken measures of its own to encourage staff to work from home and to consider taking a test to rule out any risk that they may have been exposed to COVID.

Any member of the public who attended the jury selection hearing on November 9, 2020 should consider speaking with their primary care physician or the Vermont Department of Health about taking a test. Questions may be directed to the Clerk of Court, Jeffrey Eaton, at (802) 951‐8118.

UPDATE as of 11/20/20:
Thus far, no court staff have tested positive for COVID‐19. The court security member who was present on 11/9/20 in the courtroom had no interaction with any potential jurors.
